This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the International Summer Program at Seoul National University (SNU) and took Exercise and Weight Management course. The program started with an exciting orientation, where we explored the Seoul National University Gwanak campus, learned Taekwondo, and visited historical sites like Gyeongbokgung Palace. We also had the chance to experience local culture by visiting busy markets and taking Han River cruise.

The academic sessions were both challenging and insightful. Our lecturer, named dr. Sukho Lee was so informative and fun in the way he teach us. We studied into topics such as health, fitness, nutrition, and exercise physiology, gaining practical experience in advanced health and fitness labs. One highlight was measuring body fat, muscle mass, and VO2 max using high-tech equipment. We also have a Individual and group task. The individual one is a journal review task. While for the group task is making a presentation about one of our topics. In the end of our study, we also have the chance to visit some of the laboratory is Seoul National University. The first lab is show us about their latest research which a machine where they can detect muscle contraction and movement. It really fascinating because i never seen such things before. The second lab is they studied about muscle in stroke mice, it was also interesting. Our field trips, including a visit to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and theme park, offered a perfect balance to our studies. These experiences not only broadened our understanding of health & kinesiology topics but also allowed us to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.

This program was truly exciting for us. We returned with a deeper understanding of health including body and nutrition and kinesiology topics. To improve future program, i recommended including more interactive session with local healthcare practitioners and more field trips to rural healthcare facilities. Overall, the ISP at SNU enhanced both our academic and personal development.
